An Introduction: Three Weeks from Backlash

Around 504 hours.  21 days.  In exactly 3 weeks, we college football fans will already be overreacting to whatever happens in the first night of college football.  Either Ole Miss will be a contender for the SEC, or Boise St won't miss Chris Peterson that much, or the Ol' Ball Coach will be up to his old tricks again, or Kevin Sumlin will still be one of the best up-and-coming coaches in America, etc.

So many things are bound to happen on the first night of college football.  And so many knee-jerk reactions the next day...

I'm excited about all of it.  The games themselves, the backlash from the fans, the stakes being incredibly high so early in the season.  The way the SEC is setup now, every game is a playoff game.  One loss and you've already put yourself behind the 8-ball on the way to a conference championship.

This website will, for all intents and purposes, just be my little view on the sports world and how much I enjoy their gambling aspects (if you know me, I love point spreads).  I've done blogs (Memphis Tider, Winning Cures Everything - both defunct) in the past, and at certain points, I stopped writing.  Life got busy.  But I really do enjoy writing.  It's a form of release.  I'm a songwriter and singer for 2 different bands, and that allows me to get out my feelings on really personal situations, but I don't always want to write about personal situations.

As I get older, I don't get to spend as much time with friends as I used to.  Having a 9-year old daughter, being in 2 bands, working a full-time job, and having a girlfriend (who I plan on marrying sooner than later) will do that to you.  Life changes, but you'll always want somebody to talk to about whatever you're passionate about.  In my case, it's sports.  Specifically college football, but I can get into just about anything where score is kept.

So, rather than sending out facebook and/or e-mails to all the people that I don't get to see on a regular basis, I'm getting back into the blogosphere.  I want to document my picks and get my thoughts out there.  Hell, if Clay Travis can do it, anybody can.

Johnny Football is gone.  Jadeveon Clowney is gone.  AJ McCarron, Aaron Murray, and  James Franklin are gone.  And yet, the SEC just keeps on ticking.  Kinda like me.  Blogs come and go, but I'm still here.  Cheers to you guys, and here's to an exciting 2014 football season.
