Week 5: 2-1-2; the week of the push

Overall record: 13-10-2 (.565)

Another 2-0 start that quickly went south.  Seems to happen every week.  Not sure exactly why we're so much better at picking day games.  This week we were just a few minutes away from being 5-0, and, instead, we end up 2-1-2 with one last minute loss (thanks South Carolina) and 2 pushes that should have been covers.

1. Maryland (+4) @ Indiana  |  WINNER  (Maryland 37 - Indiana 15)
Saturday 12:30pm CT  |  BTN

Maryland smoked Indiana.  This game was never in doubt.  Still mind-boggling how Indiana went on the road and beat Mizzou.  I'm guessing MO was looking ahead to South Carolina?

2. Arkansas (+10) vs Texas A&M
  |  WINNER  (Texas A&M 35 - Arkansas 28)
 Saturday 2:30pm CT  |  CBS

Arkansas looked great, but could not finish out this game.  A&M knocked out 2 TDs in the 4th quarter, and another on the first play in overtime, and their defense stood up and stopped the Razorbacks.  Knew it would be close... glad we took the 10 points.

3. Missouri @ South Carolina (-5)
  |  LOSER  (Missouri 21 - South Carolina 20)
Saturday 6pm CT  |  ESPN

South Carolina was up 20-7 with 7 minutes left in the 4th quarter when they punted the football back to Maty Mauk and the Tigers... and then all hell broke loose.  2 TD drives with less than 7 minutes left, including the game winner with 1:07 to go.  South Carolina should have been able to hold this one.

4. North Carolina @ Clemson (-15)
  |  PUSH  (Clemson 50 - North Carolina 35)
Saturday 6pm CT  |  ESPNU

Clemson should have rolled em... and they somewhat did, putting up 50 points.  They gave up a garbage TD with 5 minutes left that gave us a push instead of a cover.  Ugh.

5. Memphis (+21) at Ole Miss
  |  PUSH  (Ole Miss 24 - Memphis 3)
Saturday 6:30pm CT  |  FSN

This game was 7-3 going into the 4th quarter... and then we ran into problems.  Ole Miss kicked a field goal to make it 10-7, then held Memphis to a 3 and out before scoring at TD with just over 9 minutes left.  At that point, I was hoping the scoring was over... but with a 17-3 lead, Hugh Freeze kept his starters in for one more drive, and Bo Wallace hit LeQuan Treadwell for a TD pass with just over 1 minute left to make it 24-3, giving us a push instead of a Memphis cover.

Lines we're looking at for this week...

Baylor (-17) @ Texas
SMU @ ECU (-42)
Memphis (+4) @ Cinci
Miami @ GaTech (+2)
Oklahoma (-5.5) @ TCU
